ATM CARD

Payment cards are payment instruments issued by payment service providers – credit institutions, payment institutions or electronic money institutions – duly authorized, which make them available to cardholders as a rule, cards are issued with a certain expiry date, indicated on each card, normally not less than one year. The card is valid for the entire period indicated in the validity period and, as a rule, can be used until the last day of the month mentioned in it.

The card is owned by the payment service provider, issuer of the card, which assigns the right of use to the respective holder, user of payment services.

ATM CARD

ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine, meaning ATM. It is a specialized computer that allows you to manage your money conveniently. For example, almost all ATMs allow you to withdraw money, and many of them also allow you to make deposits. At some ATMs, you can print an account statement (a record of activity or transactions on your account), check your balance (the amount of money in your account), transfer money between accounts, and even buy postage stamps. Normally, ATMs operated by their own bank offer the maximum of services.

Why use ATMs?

ATMs are a safe method of managing money. There are millions of ATMs worldwide and you can use many of them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Some of them allow you to choose the language.

Apply for an ATM card

When you open a checking account, your bank will likely offer you the opportunity to apply for an ATM.

Create a PIN number.

To use your card at an ATM, you must enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN), a secret combination of numbers or letters that you create. Your PIN is like a secret password. If someone knows your PIN, they could withdraw money from your account. Since most ATMs deliver money and many accept deposits, it is in your best interest to stay alert and aware of your surroundings wherever or whenever you use an ATM.

HOW to USE ATM

Find out if your bank charges your customers for using ATMs. Almost all banks charge non-customers for the use of their ATMs. To operate an ATM, enter an ATM, card and dial a Personal Identification Number (PIN), a secret key that you create. And then choose the required banking service (deposit, withdrawal, transfer of funds, etc.). Not all ATMs work in the same way, but they all have an easy-to-use design. Just follow the instructions on the screen of the ATM you are using.

Make sure you have enough money to cover your withdrawals and checks. Remember that when you make a withdrawal with your ATM card or debit card, the money will be withdrawn from your checking account. When you write a check it may take several days for the funds to be withdrawn from your account or the check can be processed the same day.

ATM ONLINE FEATURE

MB Way, a mobile application that allows access to any ATM in the ATM network without the need to use the card, already has a new feature that allows you to perform most operations. It is called “Using ATM”. If until now you could withdraw money, make in-person and online purchases, generate NB NET cards, send and request money, now MB Way allows access to operations such as Payment for Services, Payments to the State, Loading of Transportation Tickets and Mobile Phones. To do this, just press the green button on the ATM and choose the option “Use ATM”. Then, you must use the app to scan the QR code displayed on the screen and authentication is requested with your PIN, touchID, fingerprint or faceID, explains MB Way in a statement.

After validation, the ATM is unlocked, just like when you insert the card and enter the code, and you can access the menu and most of the regular operations. Now, the card can stay at home. To have this new functionality, just update the application in iOs and Android stores and, of course, have internet at the time of use. “In an increasingly digital and cashless society , it is essential that access to the ATM can be done without the need for a physical card, which is so often forgotten, in a pocket or at home”, says Maria Antónia Saldanha, brand director and SIBS communication. “The wallet can even stay at home”.Soon, all ATMs in the country’s ATM network will have this feature active and available to MB Way users.

Tips and strategies for ATMs

  • Shorten your PIN. If your PIN is more than four digits, you may need to obtain a new number. Many foreign machines don’t like the longer codes or letters in a PIN.
  • Tell them you will travel. This is very important. Before you go, be sure to call the number on the back of your credit or debit card and inform the company of your travel dates. Otherwise, they will allow you the first transaction and possibly reject others on suspicion that your card is being used by a stranger in a strange land.
  • Make the most of it. Making many small withdrawals increases the number of transaction fees. Get everything you can and keep it in a safe place.
  • Don’t become dependent. If you’re running out of cash, make up for it at the earliest opportunity, don’t wait until you end up in a cute little borough with just 1 malfunctioning ATM. Sometimes they run out of money.
  • Test it! Make sure your card works. Don’t just rip it off its paper backing and put it in your money belt on your way to Munich, try it out first at an ATM at home.
  • Know your numbers. Make sure that someone in your home who is accessible while on vacation has your credit card information. I mean someone you trust, of course. Make a copy of your card and take it with you, and keep it in a different place from where you take it.
  • Take two, you never know. Have a different card to have a backup. Convert it to a different bank so you have access to more machines.
  • Get Chip and Pin. Banks in the US USA (Finally!) They are beginning to implement much more secure debit and credit cards with chip and pin, which Europe has been using for years and has the infrastructure to carry out secure transactions with cards that are much more difficult to clone.
